People who today see themselves as practitioners of science will, in the not too distant future, find themselves faced with a complete transformation of what they today call the practical application of science; for the human being is to be tuned in with his will to the objective sphere of feeling in the universe. – Rudolf Steiner

Why This Cymatic Conference

The intensive exposure of microwave and electromagnetic radiation, the deterioration of light through the exclusive use of LEDs and the exponential growth of digital computational power and A.I. technologies, all are an ever growing part of our inescapable but also indispensable present day life and of our future. The combination of these destructive, earth-bound forces – Electricity, Magnetism and Nuclear Energy – will inevitably impact every aspect of ourselves through each and every device or industry we interact with.

While this may seem inevitable, the question must be asked:

“Can there exist another type of technology, of healing, of being, one that can build up and strengthen the forces of the human being as well as the earth?”

The answer to this question is…

YES!

By learning to understand the rhythms in nature we shall even come to a certain application of the rhythmical in technology. This would be the goal for future technics: harmoniously related vibrations would be set going; they would be small at first but would act upon each other so that they became larger and larger, and by this means, simply through their resonance, a tremendous amount of work could be done. – Rudolf Steiner

What This Cymatic Conference is About

New Technologies

The development of Transmutation Technologies and Applications are available right now. These are technologies and applications that can transmute the harmful effects of everyday life and products to either neutralize or produce a beneficial effect. These technologies are based on the knowledge of fundamental laws of the world.

The development of Vibratory (Moral) Technologies are just around the corner. These are technologies that are directly connected to human nature and are put into operation by the self-activated ‘I’. The path to this is closer than one can imagine.

New Therapies and Ways of Healing

Restoring balance and harmony within the body’s natural systems should not be a difficult concept for one to understand. Approaches in working with the body’s intrinsic rhythms and energy flows to support self-regulation and regeneration can be the norm rather than the exception. Through a profound knowledge of the workings of the life forces and the structure of the human body and its different sheath , even the most serious illnesses can be cured at their root cause.

Self-Development & Coming into Being

Fundamental to the development of new technologies and the taking on of new approaches in therapy and healing is the development of a vivid worldview. This is not meant in the sense of abstract idealism, but quite practically through a deepening experience of the senses and a morphological thinking of the world. This is what Spiritual Science is about.

People…in America are beginning to suspect that this has an influence on the physical human being, that [they are] surrounded by electrical lines and the like… This continuously induces currents in us…takes away the physical body from humanity, makes the physical body so that the soul cannot enter it at all. We must be clear about this: in the time when there were no electric currents, when the air was not buzzing with electrical lines, it was easier to be human. Because there were not constantly these ahrimanic forces present, which take away one’s body even when one is watching. It was also not necessary for people to exert themselves so much to come to the spirit. Because when we enter into ourselves, we actually only come to the spirit. Therefore, it is necessary today to apply much greater spiritual capacity to be human…than it was a hundred years ago. – Rudolf Steiner

Introduction to Cymatics

The Science of Sound and Living Forms

Introduction to Cymatics

Cymatics is a fascinating field of study that explores not only the visible effects of sound and vibration but also the understanding of the life forces itself. For this presentation we will integrate scientific, artistic, and philosophical perspectives to provide a holistic understanding of how sound creates structure and how resonance influences nature.

We will examine the pioneering work of Ernst Chladni, Michael Faraday, Margaret Watts Hughes, and Hans Jenny, studying how sound generates patterns in different substances and biological systems. Through hands-on experiments with different fundament cymatics experiments, participants will observe how frequencies produce harmonic patterns, illustrating nature’s rhythmic, vibratory principles.

A special focus will be on the human voice as a creative force. Inspired by Margaret Watts Hughes’ Eidophone, we will explore how vocal sounds create intricate cymatic patterns, reflecting organic forms. Additionally, we will discuss connections to Rupert Sheldrake’s morphogenetic fields, anthroposophical perspectives on life forces, and Goethean scientific approaches. Participants will conduct experiments, explore resonance with their voices, and apply cymatic principles artistically. By the end, they will have firsthand experience of how sound shapes matter and influences the world around us.

Advanced Cymatics

From Vibrations to Cymatology and Cymatosophy

We will expand cymatics beyond its conventional scope, exploring cymatology—the deeper principles of movement, form, and rhythm—and cymatosophy, which integrates these insights into a holistic worldview. Drawing on the work of Hans Jenny, Goethe, Humboldt, Heisenberg, and Steiner, we will explore how vibrational fields shape both the material world and human consciousness.

A key focus is the transition from classical physics to a field-based understanding of nature. Through hands-on experiments with cymatic sound plates, water, and granular materials, participants will observe how sound sculpts matter and experience the shift from mechanical causality to organic form generation. We will also explore etheric dynamics, resonance patterns in nature, and the interaction of centripetal and centrifugal forces.

Cymatosophy extends these discoveries into philosophy and spirituality, asking how sound influences perception, thought, and awareness. Inspired by Goethean science and anthroposophy, we will reflect on resonance as a universal organizing principle.

Scientists, musicians, therapists, artists, and seekers interested in the deeper dimensions of vibration and resonance will find this time most rewarding. By the end, participants will gain both theoretical and experiential understanding of how sound shapes reality, fostering a new, dynamic way of perceiving the world.

Introduction to Lautsänger

Expanding the Senses and Conscious Engagement with Sound

Here we explore a revolutionary holistic technology that moves beyond the mechanistic worldview, offering a new way to engage with sound and energy. Rather than relying on explosive forces, this approach harmonizes cosmic and earthly energies to create a balanced experience.

A central focus is the Lautsänger, an innovative sound technology that transforms listening by fostering an organic relationship with sound. Participants will learn how the Lautsänger activates the auditory system in a new way, promoting deeper and more conscious engagement with sound.

We will also address the impact of modern technology on perception and how to cultivate refined sensory awareness. Participants will explore the role of electromagnetic structures in hearing and consciousness, experiencing sound as a holistic process beyond mere auditory perception.

The Lautsänger represents a shift in sound technology, creating a harmonious listening experience rather than relying on explosive forces. Practical exercises will expand participants’ sensory perception, allowing them to experience acoustic nuances and integrate these principles into their daily lives.

By the end, participants will have deepened their sensory perception by exploring alternative approaches to sound. Everyone will have gained practical tools for fostering a conscious, harmonious auditory experience.

Introduction to Anthropophonetics

A First Encounter with Healing Through Sound and Touch

Humans are inherently musical beings. The rhythms of our breath, heartbeat, and body proportions follow musical laws, and when we speak of being “in harmony,” we instinctively associate it with well-being. When this balance is lost, illness—whether physical or emotional—can arise. Anthropophonetics is a healing method developed by Atmani entirely from the understanding of the human being in its music, using the resonance of tones, sounds, and touch to restore balance and strengthen the body’s natural regenerative forces.

In an increasingly mechanized world, many people are disconnected from the vital forces that sustain life. Anthropophonetics helps reestablish this connection, working where the body and soul have fallen into disharmony. By guiding tones and intervals through the voice, healing impulses are transmitted, allowing a deep reconnection to the harmonizing forces of sound. This method is used in medical practice and treatment centers for more than 20 years to support physical and emotional healing, including conditions such as trauma, migraines, addiction, allergies, and serious illnesses like cancer. It is currently going through the recognition process of the Medical Section at the Goetheanum.

By the end of the presentation every participant will be more familiar with Anthropophonetics and how it developed into the healing art that is today.

Anthropophonetics training is available for therapists as well as in a more in-depth form for doctors and alternative practitioners.

Introduction to Logos Gradualis

A Path to Movement and Transformation

Logos Gradualis (Logra) was founded by Atmani in 2006 and is a transformative movement discipline tailored to the evolving needs of the modern human being. As the world changes, so do our bodies and our inner lives. Logra combines mindful, flowing movement with the power of the living word, building a bridge between our being and the universal forces that create life.

Through carefully designed exercises, Logra cultivates inner and outer strength, balance and vitality, offering a practice that is both formative and deeply restorative. Whether you are new to movement or come from another discipline, Logra offers an accessible yet profound approach. From gentle, flowing sequences to dynamic, strength-building movements, it harmonizes the whole being and allows for deeper self-regulation and renewal.

Logra has a deep connection to eurythmy, the anthroposophical art of movement. Both disciplines have their origins in the formative power of the word, but work in different, complementary ways. Logra strengthens and shapes the entire human being, while eurythmy emphasizes the artistic side of movement as an expression of speech and song. Together they offer a holistic way of integrating movement as a source of transformation and renewal.

In this introduction to Logra, basic exercises are presented – techniques that can be continued as a personal practice for ongoing growth and well-being.

The School of

Purifying the Voice

Personal Description by Atmani:

Singing is the center of my life. As a child, I was able to sing many songs by heart at the age of two. According to my mother and my own memory, I didn’t start speaking until I was three. Singing was and still is the center and everlasting source for me.

With the foundation of the singing work, I began to explore all lutes, especially the NG, from the ground up and to grasp them artistically. Now, step by step, a method has been developed that I have practiced with many people, including trained singers, amateurs, and complete beginners.

A further extension of what has been done so far is the use of the elements in the voice, especially air and light. It is the airborne sound – infused with light – that frees the voice from the body. This practice is the first stage of the “School of purifying the voice”. Consistently practicing the weaving of elements permeated by light and air provides a new foundation for the voice to settle into and gradually gain strength and unfold. It is a comprehensively nourishing and saturating sound that leads directly into the etheric, where the sound and thus the singing voice wants to start in our time. This elemental stage precedes the sound stage that Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström sets as the first stage. In this way, sound guidance becomes the second stage in this course. This element stage, in which the corresponding element is practiced for each sound, prepares the sound to appear truly body-free in the sound guidance.

However, if the teaching is such that all sounds are formed on and with the air, the etheric always comes into play. This nourishes the singer directly and reveals the beauty of the elements that want to flow into the basic form of the lute at the elementary level. If this does not happen, the sound will not be able to be guided without a body.

This process is of course inseparable from the breath. Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström begins with exercises to forget the breath. Here too, a stage in the “School of purifying the voice” is placed before this by introducing the basic exercises with the elements. The exercises for “forgetting to breathe”, as Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström called them, only begin at the second stage. The elements in the preceding exercise can lead to an artistic breath. Other breathing exercises have been added, which shape and form the whole of Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström’s training into a comprehensive new school. In addition, a new school of exercises for professional singers/oratorio and opera singers has been created, which is already being taught to opera singers.

In the sound guide, the second stage of the “School of purifying the voice”, the NG becomes the central sound, because it is the central sound of singing. As Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström describes in her book, when practiced and taught well, the NG moves from the area above the lips via the nasal region, the third eye to the top of the head, where, together with the released M, it forms the released, revealed and purified voice.

The central point here is the opening, how the nasality is widened by different openings. Therefore, incorrect use of the NG can cause irreparable damage to the pupil’s voice. However, if this is successful in the very intimate relationship between teacher and pupil, various paths are opened up for the sound that can be produced in singing lessons.

The third stage of the School of purifying the voice opens up various new paths of sound in and through the human body. In order to pave these paths, knowledge of the physiological and functional activity of various muscle parts of the human body is required. Again, the starting point of this third stage is the first stage, which involves the elements. When the first stage is really successful, there is always an expansion of the sound as the Eustachian tubes, the connection between the larynx and the ears, are gradually freed and the sound of the larynx gradually emerges from the ears. In the past, the ear and larynx were one organ. When this phenomenon occurs, it initially stings gently and later very intensely between the ears and the larynx in the Eustachian tubes. The entire musculature, tongue, base of tongue and other muscle parts in the fascia must be transformed through appropriate vocal exercises. Furthermore, the entire constitution must be transformed. This is achieved through exercises developed by Valborg Werbek-Svärdström on behalf of Wolfgang Strübing. This involves other parts of the body that are only named during the lessons. It is only at this stage that it becomes clear whether the larynx lowers when singing. Various preparatory exercises must have been carried out for this. Only when the larynx is lowered can the expansion really begin.

There are different paths that the sound now takes through the human body:

  1. The first is the path through the cavities of the head, in which the nostrils, together with the NG, play a decisive role.
  2. The second is the path from the larynx through the extended path of Eustach’s tubes, so that the sound also emerges from the ears. There is a lot to add, which will be opened in a book in the future and shortly.

From the church choir in Hildesheim to various top ensembles, I also sang as a soloist in performances.

I also founded and directed the Odinquardett, which had many engagements. I also performed various works as a choirmaster. At the same time as developing the “School of purifying the voice”, I have accompanied and taught various singers (opera and oratorio singers).

Even when I was at school at the Andreanum (Hildesheim), I had the opportunity to sing every Sunday at St. Michael’s Church, as I sang in both the children’s choir and the “Kantorei”. Regular choir trips in addition to concerts and concert tours allowed me to continue to experience singing as the source of my life. Through the choir and the Andreanum, I came into contact with Thomas Quasthoff, also an Andrean, whom I was able to experience, especially his voice.

At the age of 24, I had the first encounter with what was then known as the “Schriefer-Choir”, which he conducted. It was a wonderful sound that could be heard from this choir. Monika Mayr (her name at the time), who practiced with some of the singers before the choir rehearsal, became my first singing teacher. It was a wonderful transition through this choral sound created by the choir singers. In addition to singing in other choirs (Ludwig Kaiser; then the Hugo Distler Choir Dortmund), it was above all moving into Jürgen Schriefer’s house in 1989 / 90 that allowed me to absorb many things very directly, as I was allowed to make breakfast every day and then ask a question that took him 1 ½ to three hours or longer to answer. So I was taken in by him and introduced to many things.

One day, Wolfgang Strübing came to visit Jürgen Schriefer for lessons. We got to know each other over breakfast and he invited me to join the Caecilienchor in Berlin. I immediately followed his call and became a singing student of Wolfgang Strübing from 1991 – 2001, as well as a member of the Caecilienchor.

Wolfgang Strübing had said to me that I was in a position to continue the “School of uncovering the voice”. I then did this under the name “School of purifying the voice” and made it public from 2006 onwards. It was important for me to visit various students of Valborg Werbek-Svärdström. First of all, Elisabeth Haid came to me as a student at the age of 84 (2004). She had been a student of Mrs. Werbek-Svärdström for a long time. Mrs. Werbeck said about her that her voice was the closest to her own. For years she was my pupil. I also visited Mrs. Meyer from Eckwälden, who was also a student of Mrs. Werbeck. I also visited Mr. Birkenmeyer from Switzerland, who was terminally ill and was saved by her singing.

When Watergate broke it engendered the famous phrase, “follow the money.” Nothing could be more apt in the Covid pandemic. The term, “science” was used as a bludgeon, to silence a fundamental human right towards self-actualization and karmic relationships. Steiner was extraordinarily clear that healthcare lives in the free Cultural life and every attempt will be made to remove this right from the people. Let’s explore together the nature of the Cultural and how the Political and Economic has confused the debate.

Metamorphosis

Transforming Self, Society, Ecology and Technology through the Laws of Dynamic Polarity

Presented by Robert Karp (Karbelnikoff)

Metamorphosis

As human beings, we find ourselves in a realm of polarity— gravity and levity, past and future, male and female, inside and outside, self and other, and so on. Modern life amplifies this dualistic experience, crushing us in its jaws, or driving us to seek ways of escaping what can feel like a prison of opposites. But what if there’s a more liberating way to think about polarity? What if the universe is built not on opposition, but on the dynamic harmonization of opposites? What if polarization can become a path of solarization—a realization of our higher, sun-like nature? In this talk, I’ll explore the many forms of polarization we encounter and how the principles of metamorphosis, dynamic polarity, and solarization, can open new possibilities for healing and transformation—in ourselves, in society, in the natural world, as well as in the further evolution of technology.

Ann Arbor, MI | May 16-18

The Chemical Mingling of Earth and Sun…that Life May Become.

The Musical Tones of the Periodic Table Harmonizing life’s Symphony

Presented by Judith Erb, PhD.

Come to enjoy the musicality of the elements and compounds of life.  Beginning with a consideration of the cosmic qualities of hydrogen (H), the element comprising 98% of the sun’s substance, and oxygen (O), the most abundant element in the earth’s crust (49%), this presentation will bring a taste of how through their union, water becomes the conductor of the biochemical symphony of life.  As life unfolds the harmonies of chlorophylls, sugars, proteins and DNAs will be heard sounding into the water. The talk endeavors to speak biochemistry to the scientist while translating it into musical metaphors understood by non-scientists and scientist alike.

Come to explore the relationship between chemistry and the etheric formative activity of life!

Picture of Michael Hailer

Michael Hailer

Michael Hailer grew up in southern Germany. At 23, he discovered Anthroposophy, which became his intellectual and spiritual home. Initially considering special education, he later decided to become a Waldorf teacher, where he encountered eurythmy. He studied in Germany and later deepened his efforts in the Netherlands under Werner Barfod, engaging in research on eurythmy with Barfod and Thomas Göbel.

For about 30 years, he taught eurythmy at various Waldorf schools in Germany. Beyond his teaching, he took on leadership roles, including school administration, faculty management, and board work, gaining extensive experience in pedagogical and organizational development. His focus extended beyond education to the fundamental question of how eurythmy can be meaningfully integrated into modern human development.

In 2011, he encountered Atmani’s work, initially through anthropophonetics, and soon immersed himself in its broader framework. In 2015, he began training in Logos Gradualis, a system of inner and outer development deeply connected to the essence of eurythmy. His research explores how Logos Gradualis strengthens the human being by addressing the weakened whole organization, enabling a deeper connection between body and spirit. He sees Logos Gradualis as an essential foundation for revitalizing the human, as it provides the structural and strength-wise basis for its meaningful application. Today, he teaches Logos Gradualis in courses and trainings while continuing to explore its profound relationship with eurythmy, both of which originate from the formative power of the word.

As a physician, researcher, and educator, Dr. Christoph Broens continues to push the boundaries of integrative medicine, offering innovative and compassionate care to patients while shaping the future of anthroposophic healing methods.

Picture of Magdalena Kühne

Magdalena Kühne

Magdalena Kühne studied vocal performance and composition at the University of Music in Lugano (Switzerland) and opera singing in Pescara (Italy). Since 2022, she has been part of the vocal training program at the School of Purifying the voice with Atmani.

In Atmani’s lessons, she works as an assistant instructor. During the first singing session, she and Atmani set the starting point together; afterward, she continues the remaining sessions on her own. In group courses, she demonstrates exercises and introduces participants to them. When needed, she can also integrate exercises from Logra — a new movement method that has developed from vocal work — into her teaching.

For me, it is easy to understand how the discoveries of Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström (V.W. Svärdström, “The School of Uncovering the Voice”) have been confirmed by vocal physiology research. Through the further development of these methods in the “School of Purifying the voice”, it is possible to solve any vocal problem — as long as there is patience. Every person encounters inner resistances that can be overcome. Just as Goethe observed the plant, I listen to the human voice. The outer form of the plant is the expression of its being; the voice is the expression of the human being itself. Together with Atmani’s guidance, I listen for the primal sound hidden within the voice. Over time, this has led me to develop a new, subtle form of attentiveness in my teaching practice, allowing me to respond to each singer individually.

Frank Dauenhauer

Conference Coordinator

Frank Dauenhauer has been the Managing Director of the nonprofit Center for Anthroposophical Endeavors (CFAE) since 2016. Since taking over the nonprofit, his focus has been to expand CFAE’s reach beyond its home in the Pacific Northwest, where it has operated for over 45 years, to a national and international presence. He has achieved this by establishing an online presence for Dr. Rudolf Steiner Bookstore, a division of CFAE that has been serving local—and now international—communities for nearly 50 years.

In 2017, he co-founded the North American Mysteries of Technology (MysTech). In 2022, he founded the CFAE Media Group, known as CFAE Media, and in 2024, he launched Tonalitá, a distributor of technologies, programs, and services that are the fruits of Spiritual Science. Frank’s goal for CFAE is to collaborate with other organizations to establish a four-year higher education program that will train young adults based on a spiritual-scientific foundation.

Frank is an alumnus of High Mowing Waldorf School in New Hampshire. His education was in photography and digital forensics. He has spent years working with developmentally challenged adults at the Lukas Community in New Hampshire and other locations, as well as a decade in marble and granite fabrication. Frank is the proud father of one son and grandfather to four grandchildren. He resides in the Pacific Northwest with his wonderful wife and their Mini American Shepherd, Archie.

Picture of Judith Erb

Judith Erb

Born and raised in a North Dakota farm family, Judith uprooted herself and enrolled in the College of Chemistry at the the University of California, Berkeley where she obtained her B.S. in chemistry. While an undergraduate, she invented and built a machine that automatically performed a chemical synthesis of polypeptides. This gained her entrance to graduate school at California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech) at a time when their information catalogue said: "women need not apply." There she obtained an M.S. in biochemistry and completed candidacy requirements for her Ph.D. She has lived a multifaceted life as a research scientist, a mother of two Waldorf students, a Waldorf teacher, a high tech entrepreneur, a musician/composer and a grandmother of four. She discovered Rudolf Steiner in 1981 and has been a student of anthroposophy ever since. She received Waldorf teacher training at the Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento and the Center for Anthroposophy in Wilton, N.H. While teaching physiology at the Rudolf Steiner High School of Ann Arbor, she composed a musical in which students, acting as cells and organs in the human body, sang songs reflecting upon their lives.

The Goal of These Conferences

The American Tour conference series represents the first step in a strategic sequence of events aimed at establishing a higher education institution for young adults. This future school will serve as a pioneering model of education, integrating all fields of study while grounding its curriculum in the principles of spiritual science.

Both Orphideum and the Center for Anthroposophical Endeavors (CFAE) recognize the establishment of this institution as a critical mission to be realized within the next four years. To achieve this, they seek collaboration with individuals and organizations that share this vision. The conference initiative serves as the foundational phase in a three-step process:

  1. Application of Spiritual Science in Education and Innovation
These conferences will provide an in-depth exploration of the practical applications of spiritual science—demonstrating how its insights, when carried through from research to development, lead to meaningful, real-world advancements. In addition to showcasing existing applications, the conferences will highlight untapped potential that can be realized through collective effort, intellectual engagement, and resource mobilization.

  2. Training Intensives & Specialization Tracks (Beginning Late 2025)
Following the initial conferences, a series of focused training intensives will be launched in late 2025. These programs will lay the groundwork for more specialized tracks, allowing participants to deepen their expertise in various fields while maintaining a spiritual-scientific approach to learning and professional development.

  3. Establishment of a Higher Education Institution
The final step involves the formal creation of an educational institution dedicated to young adults. This school will offer structured coursework and immersive on-campus instruction, providing students with a comprehensive, spiritually enriched education that prepares them for both professional and personal development.

We invite individuals, organizations, and educational pioneers interested in contributing to this transformative initiative to connect with CFAE. Those who wish to engage in discussions, explore potential partnerships, or join the core group working toward this vision are encouraged to reach out at [email].
